InVent Quintet

InVent Quintet is a young, emerging wind ensemble, whose members share a passion for period instruments - both originals and faithfully reconstructed ones - and the historically informed performance practice.

With great joy in playing and a keen sense for contrasting timbres, the five musicians dedicate themselves to the characteristic woodwind repertoire from the 18th and 19th century. Their music is characterized by lively dialogues and a playful approach to the individual characteristics of their instruments. Together, they constantly seek for authentic, contrasting, and captivating soundscapes.

The quintet was founded in 2022 at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and currently consists of flutist Vicente Romero, oboist Nina Alcañiz, clarinettist Magda Peralta Lladó, hornist Milo Maestri and bassoonist Hannah Voß.
In 2025, they were awarded the Second prize at the International Van Wassenaer Concours Utrecht. Their captivating performance led them additionally to win the Audience prize and the Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht Award.

Nina Alcañiz, with her joy of playing, ensures a great mood in the ensemble. After completing her bachelor's degree in her native Catalonia, she completed her Master’s degree with Josep Domènech and Ernest Rombout at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. As an oboist, she works primarily in the Netherlands and Spain with orchestras such as: Orchestra of the 18th Century, Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Polifem Consort and the Franz Schubert Philharmonia. Her motto, "Beautifully colorful," inspires the energetic and diverse ensemble work.

As the pulse of the ensemble, Milo Maestri gently holds everyone together with his horn. Taught and inspired by his teachers Jasper de Waal, Laurens Woudenberg, Jose Sogorb and Bart Aerbeydt, he now regularly performs as a chamber musician and with renowned orchestras such as: Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Metropole Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Freiburg Baroque Orchestra, Nederlandse Bachvereniging and Orchestra of the 18th Century, among others.

Magda Peralta Lladó studied historical clarinet with Lorenzo Coppola (Barcelona), Nicola Boud (The Hague) and Pierre-Antoine Tremblay. From the very beginning, she captivated the other four musicians of the ensemble with her creative perspectives and ideas. She has performed with orchestras such as: Anima Eterna Brugge, Concerto Köln, Gli Angeli Genève, English Baroque Soloists and the academy of the Orchestre des Champs Élysées, collaborating with renowned artists such as Philippe Herreweghe and Amandine Beyer. She can also be heard playing modern clarinet in circus projects in Catalunya.

Vicente Romero enthusiastically guides his fellow musicians through every repertoire with a brilliant, yet warm sound and clear phrasing. In addition to orchestral work with ensembles such as Nederlandse Bachvereniging and the Nieuwe Philharmonie Utrecht, he particularly enjoys playing with smaller chamber music ensembles. For example, he and Hannah Voß won first prize at the Saarbrücken Early Music Promotion Prize with their “Ensemble dall’acqua” in October 2023.

With her two instruments, recorder and bassoon, she is passionate about both historical performance practice from the Renaissance to the Romantic period, as well as contemporary compositions, constantly seeking contrasts and diverse expressive possibilities. Her artistic work draws on experiences from regular projects with ensembles such as: European Union Baroque Orchestra, Nederlandse Bachvereniging, Freiburger Barockorchester, Les Musiciens du Prince, NOVA Balthasar-Neumann-Orchester and the Europäische Hanse-Ensemble.

PROGRAMMES

With a keen sense for the present and its context, the ensemble creates expressive concert programs that provide insight into the various facets of the unique repertoire for wind quintet. It is important to the quintet to convey their enthusiasm for their repertoire and to carry on the spirit of historical performance practice.

La naissance du quintette à vent

A breeze from Paris around 1800: flute, oboe, clarinet, horn, and bassoon engage in a lively conversation full of lightness, virtuosity, and elegance. With compositions by Giuseppe Cambini, Anton Reicha, Franz Danzi and their contemporaries, the five musicians take the listener on a journey back to the origins of the wind quintet. The instruments meet on stage like five original characters: contrasting, spirited, and yet in sparkling harmony.

Into the German Landscape

Reflecting Romantic aesthetics and poetry, the compositions of August Klughardt, Johann Sobeck, and Johann Peter Müller are characterized by the expression of deep emotions and imaginative, sometimes mystical soundscapes. Playing original 19th-century instruments, the five musicians sensitively paint musical landscapes with unending brilliant and melancholic lines, hovering over grandiose harmonies.
